School of Music with Ro + Friends

Academic Year

The School of Music academic year runs from August through May.

The annual School calendar may include scheduled holiday breaks, professional-development days, performances, recording projects, and occasional planned closures. Calendar dates will be communicated in advance whenever possible.

Optional summer music sessions, workshops, camps, and other programs may be available during June and July. Summer opportunities will be announced separately and may have their own schedules, tuition, registration requirements, and policies.

Academic-year tuition does not include summer programming. A student’s regular academic-year session time is not automatically reserved during June and July.

Enrollment and scheduling for each new academic year will be confirmed separately.

Enrollment Options and Tuition

Students may enroll through monthly automatic billing or pay for the full August through May academic year in advance at a discounted rate.

Tuition reserves the student’s place in the School and is not calculated as a per-session fee.

Artist Development Program

Depending on the artist’s goals, the Artist Development Program may include:

• Weekly private music sessions
• Songwriting and creative development
• Recording and project guidance
• Performance preparation
• Repertoire and artist-identity development
• Accountability and artistic feedback
• Release planning and creative-career support

Because each Artist Development plan is personalized, the specific schedule, focus, included services, and expectations will be confirmed in writing before enrollment.

Participation does not guarantee a recording release, public performance, audience growth, industry opportunity, financial return, commercial success, or any other specific professional outcome.

Three-Month Initial Commitment

All new students agree to an initial commitment of at least three consecutive months.

The three-month commitment begins with the student’s first month of enrollment. Tuition remains due for the entire initial commitment even if the student stops attending before the three months have ended.

The 30-day withdrawal policy does not shorten the initial three-month commitment. A withdrawal notice submitted during the initial commitment will take effect only after both of the following requirements have been satisfied:

1. The student has completed or paid for the three-month minimum commitment.
2. The required 30-day written notice period has been completed.

After the initial three-month commitment has been fulfilled, enrollment continues on a month-to-month basis during the academic year until proper written withdrawal notice is received.

New enrollments beginning near the end of the academic year are subject to availability and may require a separate written enrollment arrangement. June and July programming is not automatically included in the three-month academic-year commitment unless agreed to in writing.

What Tuition Covers

Tuition reserves the student’s recurring place in the School and supports more than the time spent together during scheduled sessions.

Tuition may include:

• Customized curriculum planning
• Session preparation
• Student and family communication
• Creative-project planning
• Feedback and accountability
• Scheduling and administrative time
• Access to applicable School opportunities and events

Monthly tuition is a flat enrollment rate. It is not recalculated according to the number of weekdays or scheduled sessions that fall within a particular month.

The monthly tuition rate remains the same regardless of:

• Whether a month contains four or five occurrences of a weekday
• Scheduled School breaks
• Planned calendar closures
• Student absences
• A student choosing not to participate in an included opportunity

Monthly Automatic Billing

Students using the monthly payment option are enrolled in automatic billing.

Tuition is charged to the payment method on file on the 1st of each month.

There is no credit-card processing fee added to tuition.

By selecting monthly billing, the financially responsible adult authorizes School of Music with Ro + Friends to charge the selected program’s tuition each month until enrollment ends in accordance with the withdrawal policy below.

Families and adult students are responsible for:

• Maintaining a valid payment method
• Updating expired or replaced cards
• Reviewing billing confirmations
• Contacting the School promptly about suspected billing errors

If a payment is declined, the payment method must be updated promptly. Sessions may be paused until the account is brought current.

Declined or failed payments do not cancel enrollment or remove the student’s financial responsibility for the three-month commitment, required notice period, or tuition already due.

Tuition that has already been billed is nonrefundable except when a refund or credit is specifically provided under these policies or required by law.

Any future tuition increase will be communicated in writing before the new rate takes effect.

Academic-Year Payment in Full

The payment-in-full option covers the August through May academic year.

Full payment is due by August 1, or before the student’s first scheduled session if a later enrollment is approved.

Optional June and July programs are not included in the academic-year payment.

The discounted rate applies only when the full academic-year tuition is paid in one payment through an approved payment method. A receipt will be provided for any cash payment.

A student enrolling after August may request a prorated payment-in-full option for the remaining full months of the academic year. Availability and pricing will be confirmed in writing before payment.

Students who pay in full are still subject to the attendance, scheduling, withdrawal, and other policies contained in this agreement.

The payment-in-full option satisfies the three-month initial commitment because the student has committed financially to the full academic year.

Early Withdrawal After Payment in Full

The payment-in-full discount is based on completing the full academic year.

If a prepaid student withdraws before the end of May:

1. The student must provide at least 30 days’ written notice.
2. Completed months and any month included in the notice period will be recalculated at the regular monthly tuition rate.
3. At least three months of regular monthly tuition will be retained to satisfy the initial commitment.
4. The recalculated amount will be deducted from the prepaid balance.
5. Any remaining unused prepaid tuition will be refunded.

Sessions already completed, months already begun, and tuition covering the required notice period are nonrefundable.

Approved refunds will be issued within a reasonable processing period after the student’s final enrollment date.

Scheduling

Each student is assigned a recurring session time based on availability.

That time is reserved specifically for the student. Permanent schedule changes may be requested, but they cannot be guaranteed.

The session length, format, and location will be stated in the student’s enrollment confirmation.

Students should arrive on time and ready to begin. A late arrival does not extend the scheduled ending time because another student or commitment may follow.

Parents and guardians are responsible for the timely drop-off and pickup of minor students.

Attendance and Missed Sessions

Consistent participation supports meaningful musical growth.

Students should attend their scheduled sessions whenever possible and provide as much notice as possible when an absence is necessary.

Student Absences

When a student misses a scheduled session:

• Tuition is not reduced, refunded, or credited.
• A makeup session is not guaranteed.
• A makeup may be offered at Ro’s discretion when sufficient notice and scheduling availability allow.
• Any offered makeup must be scheduled within the timeframe provided by the School.
• Missed, declined, or repeatedly rescheduled makeups are forfeited.
• Unused makeup opportunities do not carry into a future academic year.

Sessions canceled with fewer than 24 hours’ notice, or missed without notice, are not eligible for a makeup except in an emergency at Ro’s discretion.

Depending on the circumstances, the School may offer an online session, creative assignment, recorded feedback, or another instructional alternative instead of a traditional makeup session.

Student absences do not shorten the three-month commitment or the withdrawal notice period.

Teacher Cancellations

If Ro cancels a regularly scheduled session, the School will provide one of the following:

• A rescheduled session
• An alternate instructional arrangement
• A tuition credit when another arrangement is not reasonably possible

Planned School-calendar closures are reflected in the tuition structure and are not considered teacher cancellations.

Illness

Students should not attend an in-person session when experiencing:

• A fever
• Vomiting
• A known contagious illness
• Symptoms that make meaningful participation difficult

When appropriate and reasonably possible, an online session may be substituted.

An online substitution is offered at the School’s discretion and is not guaranteed in every circumstance.

Weather, Emergencies, and Events Outside the School’s Control

During severe weather, unsafe travel conditions, power outages, illness, venue problems, public emergencies, or other circumstances outside the School’s reasonable control, sessions may be:

• Moved online
• Rescheduled
• Replaced with an alternate activity
• Canceled when no safe or reasonable alternative is available

The School will communicate changes as soon as reasonably possible.

Technology problems originating with the student do not automatically qualify for a makeup. Technology problems originating with the teacher will be handled as a teacher cancellation.

Pausing Enrollment

Because enrollment reserves a recurring place in the schedule, extended absences require advance planning.

Monthly-billing students may request a pause with at least 30 days’ written notice.

Pauses:

• Must generally be taken in full calendar-month increments
• Require School approval
• Are not normally available during the initial three-month commitment
• Do not hold the student’s current session time
• May result in the session time being offered to another student
• Do not guarantee immediate placement upon return

An exception during the initial three-month commitment may be considered in cases of serious illness, family emergency, or another extraordinary circumstance. Any exception must be confirmed in writing by the School.

If sufficient notice is not received before the next billing date, the upcoming month’s tuition remains due.

Payment-in-full tuition does not automatically extend beyond May because of a pause. Any exception must be agreed to in writing.

Pause requests must be sent by email to himynameisro@gmail.com.

A verbal conversation, text message, or comment made during a session does not replace written notice unless Ro confirms the request in writing.

Withdrawal

At least 30 days’ written notice is required to withdraw from the School.

The initial three-month commitment must also be fulfilled. Providing 30 days’ notice does not release the student from tuition owed during the three-month minimum commitment.

After the initial commitment has been completed, notice received at least 30 days before the next billing date will prevent additional billing after the notice period.

Notice received fewer than 30 days before the 1st of the month may result in one final monthly charge.

Tuition remains due during the notice period, and the student may continue attending scheduled sessions during that time.

Withdrawal requests must be emailed to himynameisro@gmail.com. The School will confirm receipt in writing.

Previously billed tuition is nonrefundable because the student’s place was reserved in the schedule.

Stopping attendance, removing a payment method, disputing a charge, or verbally mentioning an intention to leave does not replace the written withdrawal process.

School of Music with Ro + Friends is a creative, personalized, and artist-led learning environment.

Students who thrive here:

The School values progress over perfection. Practice expectations may vary depending on the student’s age, program, goals, experience, and current season of life.

Families play an important role by supporting a positive, encouraging, and realistic relationship with music at home.

Customized Curriculum

Each student’s curriculum is shaped around their:

• Musical interests
• Personal goals
• Age and developmental needs
• Learning preferences
• Experience
• Strengths
• Creative voice

Students may explore voice, piano, guitar, songwriting, improvisation, recording, production, performance, and artist development.

Because every student’s path is different, the School does not guarantee that every student will reach a particular skill level, complete a specific project, or progress at the same pace.

Educational Scope

Music sessions are educational and creative services.

They are not psychotherapy, counseling, mental-health treatment, medical care, or a replacement for services provided by a licensed healthcare professional.

Ro’s educational and counseling background informs the School’s supportive, student-centered approach, but enrollment does not create a therapist-client, counselor-client, or medical-provider relationship.

Creative Opportunities

Depending on the student’s program, readiness, and availability, enrollment may include access to creative experiences such as:

• A professional 50-minute recording session
• Co-writing or collaborative music sessions
• Band projects
• Community performances
• Workshops
• Showcases
• Listening events

These opportunities may depend on:

• Student readiness
• Scheduling
• Venue availability
• Participation
• Safety
• Artistic fit
• Sufficient enrollment

Enrollment does not guarantee a specific number of recordings, collaborations, performances, or public opportunities.

Dates, formats, and availability may change.

Any additional cost connected with an optional opportunity will be disclosed before the student commits to participate.

Original Music and Collaborative Work

Students are encouraged to write, record, and develop original music.

A student generally retains ownership of work they create independently.

Collaborative songs, recordings, arrangements, productions, or other creative works may involve shared ownership or authorship. Songwriting splits, credits, release permissions, production rights, and distribution terms may require a separate written agreement before public release or commercial use.

School curriculum, exercises, teaching materials, arrangements, templates, and resources created by Ro remain the intellectual property of Ro Myra or the School unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Photos, Videos, and Recordings

Permission to use student photos, videos, performances, or recordings publicly is optional and is not a condition of enrollment.

The School will obtain permission from the adult student or the minor student’s parent or guardian before using identifiable student media for public promotion.

Students and families may not publicly distribute recordings of private sessions or content featuring another student without permission.

Personal Property

Students are responsible for their own instruments, devices, equipment, sheet music, and personal belongings.

The School is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage to personal property except where responsibility is required by law.

Communication

Questions and concerns should be communicated directly and respectfully.

Ro may not be available to respond during sessions, performances, travel, evenings, or personal time, but will respond within a reasonable period.

Email should be used for:

• Withdrawal notices
• Pause requests
• Billing questions
• Permanent scheduling requests
• Significant enrollment concerns

Respectful and Safe Conduct

Students and families are expected to treat Ro, other students, families, collaborators, venues, and community members with respect.

Threatening, discriminatory, harassing, unsafe, destructive, or repeatedly disruptive conduct is not permitted.

Ending Enrollment by the School

The School may pause or end enrollment when reasonably necessary, including for:

• Repeated nonpayment
• Chronic absences or no-shows
• Repeatedly late pickups
• Unsafe, threatening, discriminatory, or disrespectful conduct
• Violation of professional or studio boundaries
• Misuse of recordings, images, or private student information
• A continuing mismatch between the student’s needs and the services the School can reasonably provide

Whenever appropriate, concerns will be discussed before enrollment ends.

Immediate termination may occur when safety, harassment, threats, or serious misconduct are involved.

If the School ends enrollment without cause during the initial commitment or a prepaid period, unused tuition will be refunded after accounting for services already provided.

If enrollment is ended because of nonpayment, unsafe behavior, harassment, or a serious policy violation, refund eligibility will be determined according to the circumstances and applicable law.

Policy Changes

These policies may be updated as the School and its programs evolve.

Material changes will be communicated in advance whenever reasonably possible.

Continued enrollment after an updated policy takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Enrollment Agreement

By enrolling, the student or financially responsible parent or guardian confirms that they:

• Have reviewed and agree to these policies
• Understand the selected program and its tuition
• Understand the three-month initial commitment
• Understand whether tuition will be billed monthly or paid in full
• Authorize recurring automatic billing when selecting the monthly plan
• Understand that monthly billing continues until proper written notice is received
• Understand the 30-day written withdrawal requirement
• Understand that withdrawal notice does not shorten the initial three-month commitment
• Understand the payment-in-full discount and early-withdrawal recalculation
• Agree to the scheduling, attendance, makeup, pause, and communication policies
• Accept responsibility for maintaining current contact and payment information
